Mermaidcore, which was once simply a niche subculture of fashion, is all about dressing and looking like the fabled sea creatures. Mermaidcore is becoming more popular, especially now, because of pop culture. The Little Mermaid live-action adaptation, starring Halle Bailey, was one of the big proponents. Dua Lipa also portrays Mermaid Barbie in the Barbie movie, complete with wavy blue hair. The obvious way to ace this trend are the classic mermaid-shape gowns. This aesthetic has trickled from the internet to the red carpet, with our favourite celebs such as Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra Jonas shelling out major style goals.
