Shabana Azmi Soni Razdan pay their last respects to Kalpana Lajmi

Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi passed away this Morning in Mumbai at Kokilaben Hospital. Known for making women oriented films like Rudaali, Chingaari, Ek Pal and Daman, Kalpana passed away at 64 after battling kidney ailment as she breathed her last at 4:30 in the morning.

As the cremation of the filmmaker is happening today at the Oshiwara crematorium, various Bollywood celebs including Shabana Azmi, Soni Razdan, Shyam Benegal amongst others arrived to pay their last respects to her. Kalpana Lajmi is survived by her mother and brother. 

On her untimely demise, brother Dev Lajmi told PTI, “She passed away at the (Kokilaben Dhirubhai) Ambani hospital at 4.30 am. She was suffering from a chronic kidney disease and liver failure. She was on dialysis. She has been in and out of the hospital for three years. The last rites will be possibly conducted today.”
