Deepika Padukone to lead an OTT project about the drug mafia in India? Hereâs what we know

Deepika Padukone, after her OTT debut with Gehraiyaan last year, appears poised to further explore the digital space. Reports suggest discussions are underway for her involvement in a web project centred on India's drug mafia culture.

Sources indicate that Deepika is currently in talks for an action thriller with a leading streaming platform. Her experience with the OTT medium has shown her its immense potential, prompting her eagerness to delve deeper into it.

The project has piqued Deepika's interest, and she is evaluating its alignment with her schedule. The plot will delve into the drug mafia world in India, focusing on a female perspective. Described as an intriguing project with intense action sequences, Deepika is keen to come on board. However, confirmation is awaited.

If she does sign on, filming is slated to commence early next year. Notably, action seems to be a favoured genre for Deepika at this stage of her career. Her upcoming big-screen appearance includes Fighter, a Siddharth Anand directorial featuring Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, and herself as fighter pilots.



Previously, she made waves in the action genre with Pathaan alongside Shah Rukh Khan, sparking discussions about a potential spinoff for her character. Her extended cameo in Jawan received acclaim, and she's also set to join Rohit Shetty's cop universe with Singham Again.
