Recently, on the second anniversary of his movie, Ki and Ka, Arjun Kapoor started the #BendTheGender campaign. Ki and Ka was a film that gave us a fresh pairing in the form of Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan and also it brought forward many taboos and stereotypes that still exist in our Indian culture and society. Arjun’s character in the film was the homemaker, while Kareena was an ambitious marketing manager and also the one who earned bread for the family.
So, on the second anniversary of the film, Arjun decided to come up with an incredible digital campaign. He launched the ‘Bend The Gender Awards’, which will put forth inspiring stories of people like Arjun’s character in the film. He will ask people to nominate or tell the stories of inspiring people and will gratify them with an award.
Arjun spoke about it to the media saying, “Ki & Ka is an incredibly special film for me. The message of the film has stayed with me and I have always wanted to do something to celebrate people who are pillars of strength for their partners/families. Through this campaign, I will get to meet so many inspiring people from every corner of the country. It will be an annual property, starting this year, timed with the anniversary of Ki & Ka – a film that is extremely close to my heart.”
And now Arjun is taking his drive for women equality a step further, as he was spotted in a school along with 40 other kids, who he will be shooting for an ad with. The commercial is for gender equality for the Girl Rising India Foundation. The kids were all smiles as they got to hang out with their favourite star, check out the pictures below!
