Qala is a film that elegantly depicts the fashion aesthetic of the 1920s through the figure of Qala Manjushree, performed by actor Triptii Dimri, and captures the fashion of what was once formerly referred to as the "Charleston Age'' in its frames. Dimri's character best represents the ethereal quality of the sheer sari because she wears dove-coloured saris throughout the film. Each sari was handcrafted in Lucknow using only pure organza and delicate zardozi work, according to costume stylist Veera Kapur, who set the sartorial tone for the film. Throughout the film, the saris are embroidered with deconstructed moth designs and worn with sleeveless blouses that have beaded buttons and occasionally embellished brooches. The colour is sharply graduated as Dimri's character gets older and takes on greyer tones, the stylist observes. Her saris don't necessarily vary with age, but the shade of grey does. To emphasise the gentler aspects of the sari, the stylist was particularly concerned to keep her styling simple. a clear tribute to the era's design, which focused on softer hues with tinted lips adding a splash of colour.
